So I just ordered my new front rotors, pads and stainless steel lines from tirerack. I want to paint the hub part of the rotor, how did anyone who has done it gone about painting it? I know i just need a can of high temp paint and some tape, but im wondering how do you figure out where to tape it because of the way the caliper sits on the rotor? Will just using the brakes get rid of the over spray? Also, is there any tips for doing the stainless steel lines? I havent even looked at them yet and wont be able to until i get to install them. Thanks for the ideas :SNSign:

dont worry about doing the ss lines. just make sure you torque the banjo bolts to the minimum or you'll run the risk of breaking them. try to do it fast or you will have to have the brakes pressure bled to get the air outa the abs system.

since you didnt buy zink plated rotors you could bed your pads to show you where to paint and then remove the rotors and tape and paint them. i wouldnt use the pads to remove overspray.

Don't let your master cylinder bleed out completely either like I did or you won't have any pedal when you are done. Took me 30 minutes to figure out what I did wrong and then had to bleed the Master.

Cool thanks for the help, the only thing that sucks is that I live in an apt and it would be a pain to get to my parents garage twice, once to put the rotors on and once to take them off and paint them. I was hoping to get them painted before i put them on, any other way i could do that without bedding my pads/rotors first?

just tape off the face of the rotor and paint the hat portion. just tape off the face of the rotor and that should prevent overspray.
