I got a 93' sedan lx with the standard front disc/ drum in back. people are always telling me that disc all around is better, so is it hard to change (costly?) from drum to disc? thanks

switching to a more aggressive brake pad type will also help with braking. Using a carbon metallic pad will not fade as much as a typical ceramic pad, but will be more abrasive to the rotor and because it is metallic COULD break some sqeals after you lay on em a couple times. I had a set of CM's on my car and I didnt have much noise, however the brake dust was everywhere. But it was well worth it... my braking greatly improved for the little cost of pads.

Also the 2.3 has smaller brakes than a 5.0. You could take the brakes, rotors, calipers, and spindles off of a 5.0 and upgrade your brakes for farily cheap. Or possibly leave the rotors and get a set of cross drilled & slotted rotors for around $80 a piece.

Drilled and slotted aren't worth the money, and can crack with heavy use. Go with the 5.0 stuff at the very least, if not 5.0 stuff and 73mm calipers. You'll need a new master cylinder for that, though, so read Matt's site thoroughly.

I did a 8.8 inch disc brake rear end (from a 88Turbocoupe) swap on my 89LX in 3 hours start to finish. I had a brake line made and that was almost $40. I am running on the stock master cylinder and booster for now and it is ok but to utilize the maximum braking power the master cylinder must be changed and some other minor stuff. It can be done pretty cheap the big cost is getting the rear end mine was $56 complete.

you guys rock, i've been looking for a parts car, i dont know if i wanna get a 5.0 and start building on it, or keep my 4banger and buy a parts car for that.
