switching to a more aggressive brake pad type will also help with braking. Using a carbon metallic pad will not fade as much as a typical ceramic pad, but will be more abrasive to the rotor and because it is metallic COULD break some sqeals after you lay on em a couple times. I had a set of CM's on my car and I didnt have much noise, however the brake dust was everywhere. But it was well worth it... my braking greatly improved for the little cost of pads.
Also the 2.3 has smaller brakes than a 5.0. You could take the brakes, rotors, calipers, and spindles off of a 5.0 and upgrade your brakes for farily cheap. Or possibly leave the rotors and get a set of cross drilled & slotted rotors for around $80 a piece.
