Since my car started a an N/A is has the stock GT brakes. Since adding the KB, they now REALLY suck. I was planning on upgrading them to the Saleen/Brembo's this winter, but have found a brand new set of Saleen/Alcon calipers for $550. So a few questions:

  1. Is this a good deal?
  2. Will I be able to find the correct Saleen rotor? Or what rotor opions should I look at?
  3. What are some recommend brakes pads and approx costs?

If I can put this together for close to the price of the Brembos, I think this makes more sense? Doesn't it?

The Alcons are far superior over the Brembos. I have both. Don't be afraid of replacement rotors. Baer has a rotor now that works with the alcons, it is not slotted though. I have yet to go through my current rotors for my Alcons and I have replacements on the shelf but I am dying to try the replacement. Joe at Chicane has the scoop. As far as pads, I really like the Portefield's. The pads are $260 but throw little dust and stop almost as good as the originals and I have yet to have them fade on me.

So is the $550 a deal, or going price? Got a rough idea of what the Baer rotors are going for?

Sorry,

Yes, $550 is a good price for Alcon calipers. I could be wrong but I thing the replacement rotors are Eradispeed's and $300 a piece whic is a lot better than $900 a piece for teh Alcons. Talk to Joe first on Monday to confirm the correct Saleen/Alcon 13" replacement rotor.

$550 is a great deal. If you were to buy a set of Alcon B types, you'd spend about $6-800 each caliper. That is without brackets, lines or rotors.

Dont worry,

Plenty of blown cars in 2000 came without the Brembos.

Yep, what he said... Mine's one of them too.
I'm planning on "fixing" that soon. Kinda undecided whether it'll be the Brembo's or the Mach 13"F & 12"R set. Fills the rear wheels a little better, and works just fine for a 99% street car like mine.
