I know this has been talked about alot but I ned a brake upgrade. I currently have drums and need to upgrade to discs. I ave 15" wheels so that kindoff limits my choices. I think I've limited my options to Baer, SSBC, or Willwood. I'm leaning toward the SSBC right now but they are alot of $. Also need a new MC. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

There are many options out there.

On my 67, I went with a 68 Style disk in the front with upgraded parts like cross-drilled and slotted rotors and semi metallic pads. I went with SSBC in the back.

There are kits that allow you to bolt caliper brackets to your existing spindles and add rotors w/o changing the track width of the wheels. Since these are bolt on units, you do not even need to get the car realigned after the install. Two sources are rod and custom motor sports and Scarebird. IIRC you can do the Scarebird swap, including new mc, proportioning valve, calipers, rotors and hoses for just over $300. Thanks for your support. Just thought I'd let you be the first to know that I have completed the engineering work on a Granada style spindle/bracket set that has geometry that is correct for 65-66 Mustang. This set will allow 65-65 owners to maintain stock steering and suspension geometry and upgrade to the beefier spindle with the large diameter axle pin/bearing set while doing a front disc brake swap. This swap will not affect bumpsteer. They will be in production soon.

If you can wait a little longer, Im about to upgrade my brakes and will be selling or Ebaying:
Complete Factory front disc brake set up from a 68 Mustang, with rebuilt calipers, new bearings and new rotors (under 200 miles or wear on the "new" parts. complete with spindles and all , assembled.

if you are interested in performance brakes that fit 15" wheels, check cobra automotive. they have a 12" front brake kit that uses 4 piston 69 lincoln calipers. you can also get their rear drum kit that uses 11x2 1/4" shoes. they use this very settup on the vintage race cars where factory parts, or factory size(the 68 tbird had 12" rotors with a 5x4.5 wheel bolt pattern, and they fit the 65-69 v8 spindles) parts are required, and they work very well. i think they cost less than baer brakes also.

I ordered some baer brakes for my new rear end about four weeks ago, and i just heard from baer that it's going to be another 4-5 weeks before i get them :-(. I do have the fronts installed though. very easy install, but i haven't driven with them yet. before you buy a new mc, make sure that whatever you go with doesn't already come with one.

desgins, i don't suppose you've given any more thought to doing a lowering spindle with a raised pin location have you? i'd like to have a spindle like that and would be a great performance improvement
