Question about motor break in on my 04 GT.

So far I've been pretty nice to the car, I have punched it up a few times 99% of the time only when the engine is at normal operating temp. The odd time (like twice) I took it over 5k RPM when it was only about half warmed up. I've changed the oil once, last week. The car has about 800 miles on it. I had to convert it from kms! In the manual it states that the car does not require extensive break in time, 1000 miles before taking it on any highway trips where the RPM will remain constant for a long time. So I've driven in all different conditions, stop and go traffic, freeway, regular around town stuff, plus the occasional punch it. Does it sound like I'm doing this right? Comments would be appreciated!

I took mine to the dyno when it was at 700 miles and punched it up to 135 mph when it was around 800 and took to the track at 1k after first oil change

My granddad was the first person to hammer on mine . I drove in to their house from the dealer and was showing it to him, he used to drag race, and he was like mind if I drive it around the neighborhood. I was like sure tossed him the keys and got in the passenger side. He took it down the drive, hit the main road and hammered, I MEAN HAMMERED 2nd!!! Kept it down hard in 3rd as well then backed off to the speed limit. We pulled back into the house and he gave me back the keys and said its broken in now enjoy . Had a buddy of mine in it that afternoon and a nice Fox body was messing with us. Lets just say my car was put through its paces the first day I had it, and all is definately well with over 20,000 miles on the car. I read a quote somewhere that goes like if you drive it like you hate it from Day 1, it will never give you protest when you want to beat on it. Words to live by

Sorry kind of off-topic but where did you get that 40th Anniversary badge for right in front of the shifter. I want one for my car. Btw silver is the best and your car looks awesome.

GO OR BLOW thats what my dad has always told me , hes always had a ford and he says its either right or its not , and if its not better find out sooner than later .

You will be just fine. Your car is beautiful by the way. How do you like the Bullitt shift knob with the Pro 5.0? I put the stock knob back on because I thought it wasn't long enough with the 5.0 handle being short and upright. You like it?

Thanks for all the comments! To answer the question about the badge, yes, I put that in myself! The dealer ordered it for me. It was like $12 CAN I think! Really cheap and it's a self stick one. Adds a very nice touch to the car I think! Here's the Ford Part # 4R3Z-6304460-AA. To answer the question about the bullitt knob with the Pro 5.0 I LOVE it! I don't find it to short and I have my seat as far back as it goes. I'm only about 5'11" and I really don't have a problem. Which side of the sifter did you mount the handle on? Cause on day 1 I had it on the passenger side and it was to far away. Day 2 on the driver's side = teh win! I find 5th is a little far away sometimes but overall can't complain!

Oh and one last question! With my SCT chip I have all the different settings and so far I've been running it on the stock with the 3.73 correction. Do you think I should leave it there for awhile or could I put on the higher performance 87 octane tune with out causing an problems with the motor?

I think you should drive it normal. Drive it like you would even if it had 50000 miles on it. You want that motor to get use to YOUR driving. My new 4v has 1000 miles on it i don't baby it or drive it hard i just drive it normal. If it the engine blows just me hitting it onces then its my luck and i have a crappy motor.
