So my '65 289 daily driver was having serious problems. Running rough and stalling out. After a little investigating the points needed replacing. After points and condensor were replaced the car ran like a champ for 5 days. Now it has started acting up again. Hasn't completly stalled out on me yet but is certainly is acting like it wants to. What could cause the points to get out of wack that quickly? Seems like there must be an underlying issue here. Any ideas?

I've been considering going back to an electronic ignition, had a Crane HI-6 in the car for years but it finally bit the dust a few years back.

I run straight durosparks in all my old rigs. pretty painless to do and very reliable.

as for your current problem, there are a few things that come to mind, one would be the distributor bushings could be warn and the gap is constantly changing, another would be if you didn't use cam lube and the foot is wearing quickly changing the gap. It could also be the advance plate sticking and the timing is moving around. Also make sure they're not getting oil on them or even moisture.
