Jeremy Clarkson has reviewed the Mustang. Not too impressed. Here's the link.

I'll say what has been said over and over; don't compare.... BMW? Comon, for the price, there's no comparison. It's like he's really knocking all American car companies. He did admit that he liked it, and that's an important factor that's hard to ignore, even if a person finds a VW more useful and complicated. On the track perhaps we need someone a little less biased to review and compare this car against others.

this guy doesn't know what he is talking about. Yesterday, on my commute home, (yes I commute in the mustang, but that's a different story) I set the cruise to 55 and left a GTI in the dust. My commute is on a windy stretch of back road. Everytime I'd get to a straight that GTI would come sailing up to my bumper since I was set at 55. We'd get back into the twisties and I'd lose him once again.

Also somebody should inform this guy that the mustang has 2 camshafts, not one.

Good thing is that it is only an opinion and everyone has one of those.

Consider the source and negate the BS.

While this guy was so busy passing gas did he realize that there basically aren't any British car makers anymore? Ford actually owns Jaguar, Aston Martin, and Land Rover... Volkswagen bought Bentley and sold off RR...

We won't talk about how (un)reliable Jags were before Ford re-engineered the electronics ..and the English Rover group just went totally bankrupt, kaput, out of business, and even the beloved MINI, of which I own one and dearly like it, was designed by an American of all people, and engineered by Germans BTW.

And Volkswagen is in such dire straights now because their offerings are about as fun as Mr Jeremy Crumpet himself!

ok, now I feel better

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Golf made in Mexico these days? European car? Oh, and I'll have a few Mustangs for the price of their BMW, thank you.

The only reason they don't make television sets in the UK is because they can't figure out how to make it leak oil!

Yeah - I bet he'd like to see our review of the Mini too...

Oh wait a sec - that's a BMW made car ... Germany! Hmmm... And what cars are built exclusively in the UK now?

I guess the guy did not stop to thank who actually owns all of his countries car makers. To me it is just another outsider who just can't figure us out.

One word....

LOTUS

Although you do make a valid point. Most european cars are either manufactured outside of Europe or owned by a non-European company.

The Only car Great Britain produces that is even close to the same price range is the Lotus Elise and it is not even the same animal. It is geared towards a totally different market and is designed with track use in mind. It is basically an aluminum go cart with doors.

Europeans just don't get the idea of the Mustang and what it stands for because they are European and NOT American.

Euro = 2 seats, small, light weight and agile with 4 cylinders.
USA = Big, heavy and goes like hell in a straight line with 8 cylinders.

It is not about them bashing the US built cars. They just fail to understand due to cultural differences.

I HATE THOSE IDIOTS ON TOP GEAR ...THEY MAKE UP INFORMATION ABOUT AMERICAN CARS!!

THEY REPORT FALSE 0-60 SCORES TO MAKE AMERICAN CARS LOOK BAD..

THEY CALLED THE C6 CORVETTE ...OLD FASION TECH...ARE THEY CRAZY???

THEY SAID THE C6 HAD LEAF SPRINGS IN THE REAR ...I KID YOU NOT!!!

I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE ZO6 TO SMOKE EVERY OTHER CAR ON THE PLANET FOR $65,000!!!!!

AND MY STANG WILL SMOKE ANY CAR UNDER $70,000!!!!

what i gathered from this guys was the fact that he is trying to compare $50,000 plus cars to that of a mustang. thats two totally different animals all in itself. im not knocking the mustang by any means i love the heck out of mine, but the old adage sounds true you get what you pay for. if im going to pay over 50g's for a car the damn thing better handle and provide better everything than a mustang. you cant compare a ferrari to a mustang. you could but for the price i would take a mustang everyday. thats just my opinion.

The mustang is a bargain for the money and an american classic....you can't expect a brit to fully understand that. When I was shopping for cars, the new stang simply blew away any other sport coupe, or sports car for tha matter in its price range. Look what it's up against in the sub-30k category and it's not hard to see why. Mazda RX-8, Acura RSX, Inifiniti G35 coupe; the mustang performs better than all these cars, has similair (if not better) operating economics, and costs less tha most of them. It's easy to see what it has been a hot seller here in the USA.

Only a Brit would take a VW Golf/GTI whatever over a Mustang GT.

I saw the vid where they basically bashed the C6 Vette so I'm not surprised.
