Hey guys. I just wanted to check to see if replacing my rear axle with one from a 94-95 GT would work. They're both 28 spline's, but I remember hearing about the 7.5 or 8.8 differential.

My knowledge sucks when it comes to this part of the car, so I'm just making sure I get an axle that fits! Thanks!

I'm sorry, I have a '96 V6. I'm pretty sure the '94-'95 had the same axle.

What do you mean, comes with the quad shocks? I'm just replacing the shaft through the axle tube...

I was hoping there isn't any little accessories or parts I would need. Everything that's on my car is good, except for the axle itself.

he isnt wanting to swap the complete rear end..just the axle itself..and not real sure on it..but dont think a 8.8 axle will work in a 7.5 rear..if you have access to a good complete 8.8 just swap the whole thing

Well the 8.8 uses 31 spline axles, no? I believe the 7.5 uses 28.

While swaping out the whole rearend would be nice, I only broke one axle, and I"m broke enough to where I can't afford a new whole rear end.

Also, I already had the thing fixed, so it's all working now. Although my car took a beating, it still drives smooth. I got an axle with an ABS ring, and my car doesn't have ABS. Luckily, it worked just fine.

Thanks for the replies guys!

only heavey duty applications like the trucks use a 31 spline axle. Mustang 8.8 uses a 28 spline axle

94-98 7.5 and 8.8 both use the same exact 28 spline axle. they are completely interchangeable

QFT,

I'm about to use my 7.5 5 lug axles in a 8.8 that had 4 lug axles in it...
