so over the weekend i went to the local junk yard and they only had 2 box style rangers... and like a jackass i broke both cross pin bolts.
so anyone know how to get the rest of the pin out? i tried a hammer that didnt work.

I assume you are talking about the differential cross pin to yank the C-clips and pull the axles? One of two ways, a air hammer to shear the small pin off. Or very carefully use a torch to burn the end of the pin off.

Good luck!

Usually just a bfh and a punch.

What really sucks is when breaking the pin and it welds itself to the spider gear! Lots of swearing, a grinder and a couple hours to just get the axles out.

god that bolt breaking is like my worse nightmare when I did all 3 of my 5-lug swaps... gl!

haha between all the rears ive taken apart for friends and the ones ive done for myself and when i worked in the shop... ive NEVER broken one of these bolts. and i go and break 2 of them in the same day on the only 2 box style rangers they had. the only aerostars they had was already missing the axle. needless to say i beat the living **** out of the bottom of the 2nd ranger
