Broken differential shim

I broke the shim while putting my trac-loc back in tonight. Any suggestions on where to get just one shim? I need one .261 but would take one bigger. I can surface grind it to size. How do you guys get the trac-loc in as tight as it is? Any tricks?

Call your local Ford dealer and tell them you want part # D9AZ-4067-L for $12.83 and they should be able to have it in a day or two. As far as installation goes, they use a u-shaped tool with a handle on it that you can hit on the end with a hammer to drive it in.

just go to your local ford dealer, i bet they have a bunch of shims laying around. take a dial indicator with you if possible. your shim was probably weak and that's why it broke.

the guys at my local ford dealer are pretty cool people. they let me rifle through there box of shims and even let me use their press once in a while.

ss93cobra- thanks for the info. I called the local Ford dealership and gave them the part #, they had two in stock and one was the exact one that I needed. Thanks for the replys guys
