Broken E-brake cable

I have never seen that Orange Bracket before, that makes sense that they would have them colored Orange as they could easily see if the recall had been performed. If you rear brakes are still dragging you can install the Ford Racing short cable, cut the Spring and weld the pawl and then you would have it set for manual adjustment.

Let's say! Ford made 10 million Mustangs between 93 and 04 , of that 400,000 were constructed and placed on the market with handbrakes missing that PART. Customers start coming in to Dealerships saying there cars are making a poping noise when thay apply the brake, some are saying there car has rolled away. Ford scrambles to find out whats going on with there brake system! Ford issues a recall in year 2000 of certain Mustangs constructed at a certain assembely Plant. The cars effected by the recall come to the Dealership severice dept and get the bracket installed. Ford abanioned this type of system in year 2005 (end)

This may be why we see the handbrake's that are different looking. The above is just a story but it seems to fit. I would think if we did a survay poll of who took there car in because thay had a problem with the e-brake, or who got the recall in the mail, we would find a certain part of the country that was mostly effected.


I got my daughter 95 back on the road yesterday, we replaced the caliper, the e-brake lever didnt work right in the rebuilt one we got in April. The e-brake lever in the new one open's 100%, so there is no drag now. We tested the brake on a steep hill next to the house , the first time the car rolled, the second time she used both hands on the lever and the car held, but creeped alittle. Ford's parking brakes SUCK!

Does this help any at all though in the parking brake strength ?

My Mustangs Handbrake sucked when it still had drums out back, when I did the Cobra Brake Conversion and the Handbrake Mods it holds great even on a steep incline.

This is correct. Myself and a couple friends all own '93s so I forget the earliers do run a different bracket.

Does anybody have pics of 93 fox cable bracket and how cables are routed? My car has been moded with Baer rear discs and I need to find out how original cables were connected.
