Hey all....just got a new car and the gas gauge doesnt work. Im thinkin its the sending unit thats broken. What else could it be? And if it is the sender, how hard do you think it would be to change? I assume just dropping the tank and changin it, but theres usually a suprise...so what have you guys experienced?
thanks.

A.S. Module?

I've already replaced my fuel pump and sender unit, the gauge still doesn't work. What is the AS Module? I'm about ready to tear the dash apart to check the gauge.

AS module = Anti-slosh module.

The AS module is on the back of the instrument cluster, so you can check it and the guage at the same time.

My guage has been out since I bought the car about almost 5 years ago, and yes I've run out of gas a few times

I replaced the module and guage with ones from my parts car and plan to check to see if its working adding/siphoning gas to see if the guage will move. The sender unit checked out ok when I pulled it.

Good luck

When my sender went, My gauge would stay on full until I was under a quarter tank. Then it would fall slowly to the quarter tank mark, and work normal until empty. I would drive to lunch and tell people my car really uses lot's of fuel, see I just filled up, and watch how much I have when we get back. You should see their faces when I'd have around 1/4 left!

Anyhow, I changed the sensor, and all was fine.

I jumped out the anti slosh module in my car. Now I have a GM fuel gauge. Ford discontinued them.

Study the schematic and cut the proper terminals, then solder a jumper.
