Okay so i bought my 2001GT this past friday and the spark plug blew out of the head Saturday night coming home from work. So i called the dealer and spent around 400 dollars to get a insert put in and spark plug. Car ran fine had a mis so i was told it might be the coil from when it blew out of the head. So me being happy getting to drive my car soon i installed the new coil took it for a ride and it still was missing. Drove it a little more to get back home and it started making this loud knock from the motor. Called up the dealer irate and they were not very much help got it towed to the other ford near home and they said it is coming from the bottom end possibly the connecting rod in cylinder two and i have no freaking idea what to do i dont have the money to afford making payments and put a new motor in at the same time right away. Would it be better to get it rebuilt or find a crate motor to drop in there. Anybody know of any companies i could purchase a good solid crate for the car if so thanks!!

I'd go bang on the door of the dealer you bought it from. You haven't even owned the car a month, they should be dealing with it. IF they give two ***** about customer service, they will take care of it. But it does come out of their profit on the car, so you letting it go is what they want.

If you decide to get a motor yourself, the only reputable companies that most here will recommend will be for a built motor. I have no personal experience, so I wont recommend any but I'm sure someone will chime in. A junkyard/rebuilt stock motor will be the cheapest route.

Ummm....should you still have some sort of warranty? Even used and out of the factory warranty, any dealership I've ever bought a car from still has the standard 30-day policy? To be honest, I can't believe you spend $400 on the spark plug fix in the first place? I mean...you owned the car for one day!?! By not putting up a fuss and paying for it out of your pocket, you just opened yourself up to them walking all over you for future dealings. :nonono:

Never had a serious problem with mine and i got 104k on the clock AND im blown....

Usually people with problems like that suck at driving and miss shift reving it past 6500 rpms or something along those lines...is there something your not telling us about your drive home from work?

Im not sure of CA laws, but in TX if you buy a used car from a retail dealer and did not sign a anti bailment agreement then with the probs your having you would be able to return the car, because those probs are not noticable by looking(possibly),but if you did sign an anti bailment agreement then the only choice would be to contact a lawyer imediately.Personally I would not want to keep a car that crapped out the day after I got it...what else is gonna go wrong?I would be raising all kinds of HELL at the dealer.I also would not have paid the $400...:bs: ,they would have fixed that.I hope it all works out for the better for you.

Not only that, but who's to say they didn't already know about the problem and just jam another spark plug into the hole just to sell the damn thing. I mean honestly, what are the chances of him blowing a spark plug out of the head the day after he bought it? Something smells here.....and it all leads back to that dealership.

AGREED.Or the person that traded it in knew about it and was lucky enough to get rid of it without them knowing,Just cuz the dealer got it doesnt mean that they really inspected the car like they should have.Either way its the dealers fault. They would be footin the bill for all repairs to get this correct or take it back and give me my trade in and/or money back, which ever applies.Dont let them steam roll you...stand up to them....you have every right. And im sure they will try to tell you that it was all good...that you had to have messed it up that night, argue with them and dont give in.Also if it is financed...call the finance company and tell them what is going on,they also might step in and help you on this.

I'd love to see them argue that. No amount of hard driving in the world will blow a spark plug clean out of the head like that. Having someone try to snow me like that and talk down to me like an idiot would almost be enough for me to throw a punch over.

The only thing that makes me angrier than a dealership that will screw over a customer is the customer who lies down and takes it. It just lines their pockets and paves the way for them to try to do it to someone else. :nonono:
