Well since college is coming up I really do not have the money that i wanted to that i could use specifically on my car. How does this combo sound for an engine.

GT40P heads
GT40P Headers (shorties)
Edelbrook Intake Manifold (which one should i get?)
FMS 3.55 or 3.73 Gears. Haven't decided yet because i will have to do alot of driving commutting to college
E303 Cam.
ASP underdrive pulleys
No A/C
Flowmaster American Thunder
Subframes
CAI

Anything else I am missing? For a decent college bound kid buildup.

if your going with gt40 heads I would go with the GT40 intake or if you really want to go with edelbrock intake go with performer RPM, definitely 373 gears E303 cams are good but I hear B303 Cams are good too if you want performance get 1.7 roller rocker and wait on the subframe connecters and get an off road x pipe. and kill the smog pump with a delete kit from UPR Products, Definitely get a 65 or 70 Accufab Throttle body and 24 pound fuel injecters and find a good combo for MAF to go with the injectors. That should put you at about 290 HP or More

wow, you got a nice college budget there if you're thinking of doing all that. I'm a senior in college and I barely have money to fix worn parts. I do have the E cam though and I think you'll like it. If you're really on a budget and you're good with hand tools, take off your heads and intake and port them yourself. I'll be doing this in about 3 weeks.

Just be aware that MOST 94-95 cars with the E303 cam develope an idle problem. If I were you I'd start searching around for other GT40P setups and see what they are running. There are a lot of fast GT40P combos out there. Good luck.

Whatever you do, do not get the Performer RPM unless you plan on cutting the rev limiter out. The P heads make excellent power under 6000 RPMs where the regular Performer or GT40 shine. IMO, the Performer RPM has no advantages over the regular Performer under 6000 RPM.

Go with the 3.73 gearset. The RPM differences at 70 MPH between the two are something like 150 RPM.

The flowmasters will get very annoying with the shorty style headers. If I were you, I would look into a set of long tubes if you don't have to pass emissions.

If the GT40P heads are used, I would also upgrade the valve springs and seals in them. In stock form, the springs bind at .500 lift, and the more those springs have been compressed, the weaker they become, which puts you at chance for valve float.

Why a B or E cam? There are so many better choices out there. Because of the small exhaust side of the P head, you are going to want a dual pattern cam, favoring the exhaust side to get the most out of your combination.

Crane 2030, Valve Lift Intake w/1.6 rockers-.533, Valve Lift Exhaust w/1.6 rockers-.544, Duration Intake (at .050)-216, Duration Exhaust (at .050)-220, Lobe Center-112, Emission Legal-Yes

This one any better? How high do i have to go with lift before i have to notch pistons? Could You recommend a cam for me? I would like to try and do heads/cam all at once.

It seems that GT40P heads run best with a low lift cam. Their peak flow numbers (in unmodified form) occur at about .480" lift. That cam is too big lift wise, the duration numbers are good. IMO, the best off the shelf cam for a P head (that I can think of) is the Crower 511. It shouldn't give any idling problems either.

Lift doesn't play a big factor is PTV clearance, it's the duration figures, primarily those at 0.050" lift. The biggest cam I've heard of being run on the stock shortblock is the TFS stage 2 cam. Valve timing also has a lot to do with PTV clearance. The Stage 2 cam could clear when installed straight up, but if it was retarded or advanced 4* it could present a problem.

I wouldn't use the stock rockers if someone paid me. Get a set of Scorpion or FMS 1.6 rockers. The stockers are too mickey mouse.
