When I purchased my 2002 GT, the previous owner had purchased and installed a set of Bullitt Racing Cams with the following specs: 225/235 duration at .050 with .562/.572 lift. There is a noticeable lope at idle.

I am wondering if these cams are considered good street cams and if a different torque converter would be required. At stop lights there is a noticeable pull when in gear, I have to hold the brakes pretty hard...wondering if a 2000-2400 torque converter would help this some.

Also, are these cams more for high rpm performance, or low rpm torque?

Thanks in advance for any advice/info.

Bullet also grinds CMS cams.

They are CMS/VT cams. You should get a 3000-3400 stall. They are mainly for high rpm gains.

The idle is currently set at 950 in drive, 950 in neutral. I have moved it up and down from 850 to 900 to 950, seems like I may need to move it up some more.

I like the lope of the cams, but at a stop light, sometimes it idles fine, other times it swings between 200 and 1200, or just dies. I have been reading the forums, and I believe that there is a new IAC in my future, but I am not sure that a new IAC will solve the problem and I don't want to spend the money until I know for certain.

I was fairly certain that these cams were primarily for high rpm gains, but I wanted to hear some other opinions.

Would a 3000-3500 stall be usable for a daily driver?

Also, is there any way to get to 325-350 HP N/A with these mod motors? I'd love to do a blower, but don't see those $$ available anywhere in the near future.

Thanks!

Absolutely. I have a 3200 and it was more drastic before the cams because they move your torque curve up in the rpms - lower your peak torque the more drastic a high stall is. Those stage II's move your torque curve even more than my cams, your car would behave perfectly fine with a 3400 stall. Below a 3000 won't do much of anything for improvement - you can trust me on that.

Yeah, I guess I should have been more specific...I meant RWHP. If you can't get it to the wheels, it won't make much difference.

Any specific ideas to get there? Or would it be more cost effective to go to a supercharger?

Those are definitely VT or Cushman Motorsports cams, which are really the same cams, because it's the same guy that designed the grinds,Jim Cushman, and kept them when he left VT,and started on his own.
Anyways, those are the VT/Cushman stage II N/A cams.
Here is the full info for them.....
These cams are the original VT Stage 2 N/A grind that I developed for VT. Stage 2 cams are the perfect choice for stock or ported heads and great all around N/A street/strip performance. MUST BE USED WITH AFTERMARKET VALVESPRINGS. Aggressive idle. 2800-6200 rpm. Gains of 30-35rwhp are common. Like 3.73 gear or better and 2800+ stall in auto's. MUST BE TUNED AFTER INSTALL.
.560/.575 lift, 225/235 .050" duration, 108 LSA

1low03gt,

Thanks for the info...that is exactly what I was looking for.

I just upgraded to 3.73 gears, guess I will start working on that stall converter now.
