Bullitt Fuel Door Removal

I have a quick question...

I was never one for the Bullitt fuel door, I think it looks like a piece of crap!

I'm about to purchase a Cobra with one of these installed, and I was wondering what I could do, to remove it and add an old fuel door back on. Is it possible, and during the installation of the Bullitt door, does it mess up the paint?

Sorry about the stupid questions, but I've never actually used one before... And I hope I never have to.
