My immaculate silver '01 is no longer immaculate: an SUV decided not to wait for me to move at the light change and just drove into me. I have the bumper imprint in my bumper now. The silver coating wasn't penetrated, a local shop checked underneath and all is ok it appears. The suv was only 3 feet behind me and i wasn't even in gear. But the bumper imprint is obvious.

my question, am i jerk to pursue this? The car was immaculate, it only has 9000 miles on it, the other driver agreed it was immaculate, and apologized. I think i should get a new bumper. what do you guys think?

Without a doubt, get a new bumper.

Dude, WTF? You have a car that was limited production, no longer produced and may be going up in value (this is debateable, but if you put in a garage for 30 years it might be like a 67 gt 350/500!!) get it fixed!!!!

That's what their insurance is for

If it was me, I'd pursue it.

Two friends - a Formula owner and a 40th Anniv GT owner - and my neighbor looked at the imprint and said much the same, you really can't miss it when you look. The imprint wasn't obvious in the drizzling rain, or I wouldn't have had a second thought at the time. I'll see what the body shop has to say tomorrow. Thanks very much for the replies.
