Well, I knew I had trans problems. I went through the lights and it felt like it downshifted hard as it was shifting into 3rd, then there was nothing. The trans is screwed. The car went its fastest ever at 15.47 @ 88 mph with a 2.102 60'. So now I have a to decide what to do. Do I get a salvaged AODE, swap to a T-5, or go with a performance automatic? The T-5 swap is $1895 just for parts from stangparts.com. What do you guys think would be my best option????

You are only trapping 89MPH??

Even with an AODE, stock 5.0's should be at least 91-93MPH.

Either way...go T-5. It will cost you the same in the long run when it comes to gathering parts and rebuilding the AODE

I was thinking about just buying a rebuilt AODE off Ebay for $695.00 and then stop racing the car and give it to my wife. I should have just built a real race car to begin with and I should stop beating on this one. I was seriously questioning buying a trans off Ebay but they come with an 18 month/18,000 mile warranty. And its gotta be better than buying one from a salvage yard. The guys got over 100+ feedbacks. So, if I went that route, whats the labor gonna run to pull out the old and put in the new? Is $400 low? Keep in mind I'm not going to race the car anymore.

Thats what I was thinking. If I buy a transmission and just have the shop install it it'll lessen the chance of getting screwed over. The auto trans is a mystery in itself to most people (including me), theres a HUGE chance of getting ripped off by the trans shop.

BTW from what I understand you give up a little in the mph department when you go up to 4.10's hence the lower trap speed. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I would do the swap myself. The AODE is pretty heavy, but if you have a few friends to help it shouldn't be a problem.

Might as well swap a Trmec in there and start making it your race car!

Too expensive for my budget. The T-5 conversion would be well over $2K parts and labor. Its a vert so theres no sense in making it a full race car.

My t5 conversion with junkyard t5 and new clutch, flywheel, shifter, quadrant, various nuts and bolts, was about 1200.00. I did it myself so no labor costs.
