Burning a lot of oil

Losing a lot of oil somewhere and there are no oil stains under my car? I put in about a quart 2-3 days ago and im a quart low again? I think I have some serious problem, engine has 120k on it. When i turn the car off after driving it, i pull the dipstick to check the oil and some steam/smoke comes out. I know there is a very small leak on my pan around my oil gauge sender or whatever, but not enough to leave a stain overnight.

do you notice excessive blue smoke out tail pipe? cats will burn up most but not all if you are burning that much.

No smoke out of tailpipes, just took the cats off sunday.

ok with out the cats if it is buring oil you will see it. perhaps there is a leak that is only evident under pressure. when the engine is running and there is oil pressure. have you left it running a crawled around looking for a leak?
