For about the last 2 months I've noticed that when I let my car idle for more than like 30 seconds I start gettin a lot of white smoke from the tailpipes and it smells like oil burning. I asked a mechanic friend of mine and he said it is either the seals or the piston rings going bad. If this is so how much am I looking at paying to resolve this?

Hey 313stang...i sent u a pm then...its probably your valves seals or valve guides..i have the same exact problem and with all the research i have done thats what it looks like. I am not sure on price maybe someone will chime in but i think seals would be like 600 or so and rings would be a lot more. Does its smoke like mine only when the car is up to temp and after idle..or does it smoke all the time?
