Why does the GT500 beat the crap out of the roush at the drag strip when it doesnt handle as well? Handling isnt everything.
That type statement gets you nowhere, BUT ill answer your question.
GT500 is a tank and weighs 400-500#s more than the roush...THATS why. Power to weight ratio is alot closer than the rated HP #s make it out to be. And maybe also because it costs more and is a purpose built track (road course) vehicle.
This is opinion based anyways. If you want something that you can take around a race road course, or autoX your focus is going to be suspension and handling.
If you want a fast car your focus will be more towards power.
You ideally want a perfect blend of both for a well rounded street car.
Well the GT500 is a heavy POS anyways.
..... you can always put as much HP as you want in a car but weight is something you cant get rid of (to a certain degree.... its there and will be your enemy anytime you drive.
So what your saying is Put 2,000HP in a Bus and it will be Fast.... WRONG.
My buddies dad has a 07' GT500 Modded to 800FPTQ..... With a roll cage, no driver, no back seat it weighted 4,100 LBS!!!!. Thats the weight of a Land Rover.... Really think that can handle? Um No. My little 3122LBS SN95 spanked the crap out of the GT500 on the road course..... Power ment nothing. Yes he would whoop me on the straight but once the corner came i could late brake, turn in, and power out because of my Light Weight.
Power Means Nothing Unless you can handle... Period
