So i have a pypes violator catback with 3” tips on my 92 LX 5.0. I hate the 3” tips so i removed them and came across some tailpipes on CL with 2.5” flowmaster tips.
In order to not hack up or weld onto my existing pypes axle hoop tailpipes, i cut the flowmaster tips off the tailpipes i picked up on CL. Thing is, when i mock install the tips (tip hanger in rubber hanger under bumper), there is about a 3/4 inch space between the axle hoop tailpipe end and the flowmaster tip....my question is can i possibly use an exhaust butt joint band clamp (2.5” to 2.5”) with a 3” width, to join the two?
Of course, i could get a whole new tailpipe setup, but i wanted to see if my scenario would work. Thanks for any feedback.
