How long will it take for the aftermarket to start producing mods for the new V6? I'm sure it will take a little time. The current 3.8L Aftermarket didn't exactly take off right away back in 1994.
Take it from someone who has been driving a '98 v6 Mustang for the past 5+ years - get the v8 if you're able to afford it. You'll void your warranty modifying a v6, and likely run into more problems running the car above spec. The current v6 is a lot more powerful than mine, but if you want 300hp you're better off going with a v8.

I bet they never really do, because it's my understanding that the 4.0L is a lame duck; it will be replaced by the 3.5L within a year or two.
If that's what happens, there will probably never be much of a 4.0L aftermarket.
Ricks, that's an awesome story about your old Shelby. Are you going to try to reacquire it? The fastest car I ever has was a 1964 Chrysler 300K (360 hp / 490 lb ft.). I sold it because it needed work and I couldn't afford it at the time, and I've never forgiven myself.
And regarding resale value, V6es hold their value better than GTs. Go look it up; GTs are worth more, but not nearly as much so as the price differential when new.
If you can easily affort the 8 , you love acceleration, and you like torque then you will be very dissapointed in the 6 if you get it and then later drive a 8 and see what a 8 feels like. very very very dissapointed.........amen
