Hello guys, just signed up to the boards and have a question, buyin a 95 this week for a fair price, but its got 185k miles on it, what is the best rebuild kit for the money out there? i am going to do some bolt on mods later on (throttle body, exhaust, cold air intake and such) but i dont want to get too radical as it is going to be my every day driver. any suggestions would be appreciated. TIA

If it's been taken care of well don't worry about the engine, mine has 203xxx miles and still chirps 3rd and doesn't smoke.

Right now a tranny rebuild might be more appropriate.

Summit has a nice rebuild kit includes 30 over forged pistons for under $500.

drove it today

drove it today, motor seems solid, and tranny & clutch are like new, (thinkin a rebuild, that smooth) I will wait a bit for the rebuild i think, maybe six months, then do it to be on the safe side.

post up some pics when u get it. rebuild? wait till it starts going, then worry about it.

no sense in fixing it if it ain't broke.

Just keep track of the oil level and see if its burning oil excessivley. If not then dont worry about a rebuild. Like the others said they can last for a long time if taken care of. I'd do a full tune up just to be safe and then take to the track for a baseline ET.

Yeah, sounds nice to me too. Run a compression check and see what you got? If you can avoid builidng up the motor now, you can replace other parts that may be worn (steering components, suspension, ect) Nice to hear you got the car though.

the dealership already took the pics of it off the net, i will have to take some when i get it on thursday. it has a few dings and dents (but hey, dont we all) im paying $3500 out the door $3308 or something +tax not a steal, but not too bad. . and that is the sign of a truly good negotiation.. . if all parties feel like they got screwed.

I just got mine this saturday. 4500 and its black on grey with 162k, cam with a 3550, pro 50, 373's, cobra font and rear bumpers and a cobra r hood. it has an e cam and it idles kinda funky, I can see the volts on my battery gauge go up and down. its good other then the idleing problem. other then that everyones right if it has been kept up you should be fine.
