buying 01 -04 mustang gt

okay im looking and mustangs gt between 2001 and 2004
i know a good bet on information on them but im no pro
i want the pros and cons of this car just to know if i really want it or not
also if there is any special mustangs i should look at more
also price is kinda an issue
im an e2 i dont make much so im trying to stay under 13k
but if anyone has any ideas what i should look at maybe special mustangs like the bullit or maybe old ones like 93
idk just want more information on the cars

13K can get you a nice Mach 1 or 01 Cobra! You get the nice 4 valve motor and nice 13 inch brakes in both and the cobra gets you the irs. If you go the reg 2v GT route, you can find some low mileage clean ones for about 7-8k. Dump 5k into her and you have a nice running stang! Very strong and reliable cars which ever way you go.

As others have said you can get a cobra or a mach for the amount of money you are willing to spend. However I am willing to bet that since you are an E-2 you are still young so you will have two problems to deal with. One is insurance, it will be cheaper for a gt then a mach or cobra. The other aspect of this is your intrest rate since most younger people to not have enough credit to get a good rate. Again the GT will be cheaper.

I would find a clean lower milage GT and mod the piss out of it. This way you can pay less per month, have money to still do stuff and, if you add a blower at a later date you will wipe the floor with a stock cobra or mach and pay less in insurance. Just my 2 cents as its what I did. I passed on a mach and a termi when I was looking for a stang and honestly I dont regret it one bit because my gt is MINE I have made it into the car I wanted and I did have to pay the extra insurance and intrest along the way.

+1. You should be able to easily afford a low mileage GT with 13k. If I were you I would get a 2004 GT, it is the most new, likely to have the least miles, and would be a perfect car for someone that is getting started in the sports car game.

On a technical side the 2004 has more threads for the spark plugs to screw into and doesn't have the infamous sparkplug blow out issue. Also the headunit was refreshed for 2004 and has a SAT plugin / looks the most modern. Other than that the late 2001-2004 stangs are very similar to each other.

Did the 2004 GTs also have the 4r75w box as well?
Is it also right enough that the 2003/2004 cars had a few other improvements over the other new edges?

Same as everyone else has said. Find a stock GT with low miles then make it yours! Plenty of money for starter mods too.
Cant go wrong and feel free to beat on it too, it wont let you down.

Lastly dont pay 13k for a GT. I have seen a few at a dealer or two for 12k and its not worth it unless it has un-believeably low miles and is MINT.
