I'm looking to buy a C4 to replace my C6. The guy I'm buying it from is unsure where the C4 came from. What should I be looking at to make sure that it'll bolt up to my 74 351W??

Also, the guy says there's a small crack in the bellhousing. Is this easily repairable or should I look elsewhere?

crack?

aluminum welding is expensive....watch out. I`d just get a different bell.

Oh, a lesson I just learned recently too, the bell type depends on the car its going into, if you have a 65 or 66, your gonna need a 157 tooth bellhousing, cause the larger one causes issues. After that I dont think it matters much (someone correct me if I`m wrong) cause the transmision tunnel grew quite a bit in 67 and later models.

There were three sized bells for small block C-4's----- 147 tooth (Mustang II) 157 tooth (this is the one you want) and the 164 tooth (this is the "pan fill" bell) All will bolt onto a 351W.

In Summit, they have two casefill bellhousings that'll fit the C4/351W (TCI-513300 & TCI-513310, both by TCI). The only differences I see are one is 5.875" deep and the other one is 6.75" deep. Which is the right one for my application?? Or am I looking in the wrong place?

The deeper one is for the 80's C-5 lockup converter I would think. That's the only application I can think of that had a deeper bell.
