I am looking to buy an 05-09 Mustang GT Cpe. Would like to Supercharge it. Plan on building something around 500 hp. Is one year better that another?

The later the better in suspension refinement and interior options. Engines are the same so are transmissions.

plus the later build 08s and 09s have the revised cylinder heads that don't have the problematic two piece spark plugs which can really be a nuisance.

true, but most guys who go F/I have to buy an earlier intake so they can put in charge motion delete plates if you don't want to put the plugs in the newer ones.

The 2 piece plugs are only a nuisance once, until you swap in 1 piece plugs right ?

for what you'll have to spend on a s/c and forged internals to make 500 hp you'd be better off and save $$$ by buying a GT500. Gonna be iffy on a stock motor @500 hp.

Nice... kudos for the shameless plug.

And yes GT500 > F150 any day of the week and twice on sundays.

Also yeah you can switch out the plugs to a one piece design but there are few models that work for our cars. I think Champion and Brisk (not sure about the second).

My recommendation is to buy a car built in 2007 or preferably 2008. My 2008 MY, built in November 2007, has been ROCK SOLID! 524 rwhp & 501 rwtq on a stock motor with no other mods but a O/R X Pipe and Magnaflow catback! Runs 11s on 20" wheels. Drive it every single day. I can't ask for anything more.

What? Most guys who go F/I go twin screw simply because there more of them on the market and with them you do not use charge motion delete plates. With a twin screw or TVS blower you replace the whole intake manifold and thus you don't need any CMDPs. If you go with a centrifigual or turbo than you will 'need' CMDPs. However, Steeda does sell a 'plug' kit to delete the CMCVs for the 2009 and 2010s.

Also, if you're going F/I than you will never have a problem with your two piece plugs since you need to be pulling them often enough. Autolite HTOs are the way to go with F/I.

As far as making 500 rwhp on a stock motor. It can be done! The deciding factor if your motor lives or dies is all in the tune. There are many of us who are running close or over 500 rwhp on stock motors and have had great luck. I've been making all ~500 rwhp for almost a year now, drive it every day, countless passes at the track, beat the piss out of it and it's dead nuts reliable. (Knock on wood)

Wait....is it the cylinder heads that were revised, or just the plugs themselves? I know the heads for the 3V F150's are all the same...only the plugs were changed out in '07?

The heads and plugs themselves are different. The boots of the COPs are also different. The 2008s with the updated plug design has Brown boots while the previous years have Black.

true, I was thinking of just centrifugal s/c's for some reason, just had that picture in my mind.

500 hp to you, to someone who knows what they're doing is not the same as the average person, especially someone who's 'thinking" of buying an S197 and supercharging it. It's all about the tune, good points.

Thanks for all your input I know what it takes to Build a fast 5.0, but have not done much work on the 4.6. My 5.0 Ran a 400 Shot of Nitrous. I did have a Supercharger on My PT Cruiser and My Scion xB, I Figure the Mustang should be a bit quicker than the Scion!!
