Buying first SVT need some advice

Hey Everyone,

I am looking into buying one of two SVT Cobras. They are both '96 Cobras one is hardtop with 66K asking $10,500 and the other is a convertible with 123K asking $8,800. I was wondering if there were any suggestions for things to look for or any common cobra issues to check for each vehicle. Basically any advise you can spare on buying my first cobra would be greatly appreciated.

96's had some cooling system problems right at the start, but I don't know how to tell one that has been updated from one that hasn't by looking at them.

Just from the mileage, I think I'd go with the coupe.

Go with the coupe IMHO. You wont regret paying a little more money for the lower mileage car. Plus if you dont really have your heart set on a Vert, the coupe would be the preferred car since it is stiffer and you wont have to worry about the top leaking, getting old, etc. Just make sure you check out the car thoroughly, drive it and dont be afraid to get on it, and ask the seller about EVERYTHING just to get a feel for how he treated it. I just bought a 96 Mystic with 44k for $11,900 a month or so ago. Good luck on your purchase, you will love it.
