Bye Bye State Farm Insurance

I have been a state farm customer for 18 years and just figured out they suck. I just had my car appraised and it came in very good. I took it to state farm and asked them to quote it before they add it to my current policy so I could see the difference. Well, they boned me hard. Told me that I don't need to up my insurance, that if there is ever a loss, they would have one of their appraisers look at the car and give me a figure. I could have my own appraisal done and if the 2 don't match they have the 2 appraisers agree upon a neutral 3rd appraiser and whatever he says, goes. I think this leaves a big loophole and potential for me to get screwed.

So, I called Liberty Mutual and told them I want it insured for the Appraised value and they come back over $100 cheaper than State Farm. This is with all the same coverages and less money. So, I called my State Farm agent yesterday and gave him his Christmas Present. "Cancelled all my Policies" House, Mustang, Infiniti FX35, Life Insurance and my wife's Wedding Ring. Total savings was over $400 for the whole package.

My point is, give Liberty Mutual a shot, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

I switched to Liberty Mutal a few years ago from Allstate. Saved me $400 just on the Mustang alone. Only problem was they kept increasing their rates every year and suddenly I caught Allstate quote again. I recently switched to the Mercury Insurance Group (POE Financial) and it dropped a huge amount. Haven't had an increase this year so I'm stoked. I did the same, I changed over my wife's car, wedding ring, house and stuff and saved a bundle.

How much are you guys payin for insurance? Full coverage on my care is 860 per 6 months, but thats with a good student, accident free, multi car, multi line, and safer driver class discount.

I know someone who works for Liberty and they do have good rates but they tend to up them over time so don't expect it to last for a very long time. I had Mercury and tey were bad ass BUT new clause came out about being married but having people xcluded yadda yadda and so the price sky rocketed, oh well. Now with AAA insurance and everything seems good so far.

I had state farm and the agent was my best freinds dads best friend , and I got my mustang when I was 21 and was paying 87$ a mo for full coverage with a $500 deduct. Not too bad, he even called me up one day, about 6mo before I bought the mustang, at like 8am and said "your just paying too much come down here we need to do something" saved me 20$ a mo. that time.

However, if something was to go down he even told me the company would screw me over and that he sug. that I go somewere else if I was afraid of that. He said he would not be able to do much as the corp. office would step in or something.

I am now with a progressive agent (not with progressive ins. though).

I pay 113$ or so for coverage on the DD 00 olds intrigue and on the mustang, and nothing on the bronco as I am going to sell it or at least let it sit until I have the time and money to do what I want to it if I dont get my price.

Charlie....Glad things worked out on the appraisel...Did you have Ed do it???

He told me to look at Amica...they're fairly new around here...closest I found was Concord...I emailed them they're form an never heard back??? Wankers... :D
I'm still with Liberty on mine...least they cover full appraisel value...

Come on...you can't keep us in suspense??? you had to be North of 40K??.. :D Ed must have freaked when he seen that..I can hear him now "Oh my" He's kinda eccentric, but knows his cars...

Ed did do it. He's a very cool guy. Know his chit. thanks for giving me his name. I'll tell you the appraisal later. All I can say is it's up there. He's gonna do it again in the spring after I get the latest round of goodies on the car.

I had progressive with the Talon and Mustang full coverage paying 180 a month.

Got a quote from Country Companies for about $100, and went through all the work. Now I pay $103 a month for better coverages.
Also the people are much nice than progressive, especially since they have an office in town.

I'll play devil's advocate here.

I'm young (22) so when I was doing my shopping in VA for insurance (formerly had MA insurance) I went with State Farm - to me - it all depends on your agent. I had one agent try and give me a bs quote because I mentioned I might have a ticket pending, so I said forget her and went to another agent who HOOKED me up - $888 for 6 mo. - little over 1600/year. That's the cheapest without any discounts - previously on family's insurance but going solo will benefit in the long run, especially with future discounts. Allstate sucks - had some bum old man quote me at 1400/6 months with CLEAN RECORD. Progressive didn't look so hot, and Geico was ready to sell me my policy before I had even really discussed it. Pathetic.

Never tried Liberty. Might look into it in the future. My agent is tight - when asked about tickets, she just told me to never mention it, because the only time she'll look at it is if i'm in an accident. Awesome.

Regardless, VA quotes suck. But not as much as MA.
And, being under 25 sucks as well in this particular topic.

Edit - I also love how the "Mustang GT Convertible" is grouped in the category along with "Ferrari 360 Modena" and "Lamborghini" - LOL because ALL sports cars are the same, right?! (It's most likley based on accident rates but still)

I've had Allstate for years now, and my insurance keeps going DOWN, not up. I have auto, life, and renters insurance through them, great coverage and my rates go DOWN at least once a year. There are a ton of things out there that you get discounts for, and my agent is really cool, he checks through and gets me new discounts all the time.

Not to long ago State Farm tried to pull out of NJ, sooo.... i end up getting a letter in the mail saying that they're dropping me. I call them up and one of the agents tells me that basically everyone who didn't have their insurance for atleast 6yrs had their name thrown in a lottery and dropped. I was paying 3600 a year for just my blazer. Now i have NJ Cure, can't complain, i pay about 230 a month for the blazer, mustang's not on the insurance yet, that should be fun....
