Hello new here and would like a few opinions. I have broken my C-4 again this being the 3rd time. Going to switch to a super comp PA C-4 or a PA powerglide. Trans is going in a car that sees very little street duty and motor makes about 700hp right now with nitrous to come soon. Would like some opinions as to what you guys think, Leaning towards the glide as of right now and going to fix the current trans and put it in my street car. Thanks

Im in the same situation, and really Im still undicided.

Were runing the C4 right now,and its nice because you can run 1/8 and 1/4 on the same rear gear. The 3 speed is alot better on the street, and when it hookes up it launches HARD!

But the glide has its advantages too,of corse being its praticle unbreakable below say,1200hp?And the fact that it has more clutches per pack and has less rotating mass it will get more power to the ground. But then your stuck with a 1st gear around 1.70-1.80 then you need a larger rear gear which limites your top end speed,as its still has a 1:1 final.

We got a PA Super comp C4 in our car now, hasnt gave use a single problem yet, there very nice transmissions. What converter are you runing? We are runing a 8",sending it back to have it tightined up,and sould be having mid-low 1.3 60' and shouldnt blow though it with a 250-350hp shot like we did befor.

Turning about 7900 rpms and running a 8" converter with 4.56 gears. My freind's coupe is running the PA super comp with an 8" and is getting 1.22 60's with a 200 shot and 1.35 on motor. Would like to stay with a C-4 but like you said a glide is hard to break.

A friend of mine has a 84 capri running a 408 and a 300 hp shot of nitrous making about 800-850 hp and for some reason snapped his powerglide in half in a 1/8 mile run. it looked like it was a bellhousing and a transmission. craziest thing i ever saw. but i would still go with the powerglide.

powerglide

I switched my car from a pa super comp c4
to a bte powerglide and I picked up 2 mph
and lowered my e.t. My combo makes roughly around 700 hp
and my car weighs 3100 with me in it.I would go with the glide as long as you can turn some high rpm. I am also running a 8" converter.
