C/C Plates Are In...With a "Little" Hitch.

I did, but it turns out that the shop that installed the Steeda springs and C/C plates had the struts way too low for the amount that the car was lowered. The current setup in the pic is how MM recommended it with stock struts and lowering springs.

Im not sure what you mean by that but I think you mean there isnt enough threading  which as you can see in the pics there is. What size is that nut? I wanna pick up a couple and have them ready when I get the alignment.

Rob, ok i am installing my c/c plates that have been sitting in the shop for months now tommorrow, if i can get around to it, was waiting to do it when i put on springs, struts etc..... I will be installing it with the 87-93 struts, and lowering springs, did you happen to ask whether to put the spacers on the top or bottom when you change struts(only reason i ask is i remember you were looking at the HP's by tokico... which is what i bought...)

From What I gathered, it's based on the lowering of the car...Lower the car, the higher the strut should be. "stock" placement of the spacers with my CC plates is one large and one small each on the top and bottom. For each 1/2" lowered, ONE 1/4" spacer should be changed from bottom to top (subtracting 1/4" from bottom and adding it to the top = 1/2" compensation)

You need at least one on each side. I say if you have it lowered, put one large spacer on the bottom and use the rest on top...as long as you are sure it clears the hood.

EDIT: Damn, I should have held this info ransom until I got my rad bracet from you

If you want something out of stainless i would be willing to bet i could make it.....you would have to polish it out though....

Yeah, I need the back firewall piece.

About the bracket though, seriously, Since my car is no longer a dail driver, I can get that bracket to a chrome shop and get it plated...I already know that it fits right.

lol, i can see them if i click on the attached images, it's just that they don't show up inline with the thread.

now i have some incentive to get mine in ... it sounds like you and i are in the same category mechanically ... capable but not much experience ... with your good install thread and the pics i think i can handle it myself.

they came on thursday, but they are black, not chrome ... watch for my install thread.

i asked about that too because i am going with 87-93 struts too (fwiw, i'm getting strange struts). if your 87-93 struts are are 1" shorter than the stock struts, and you are lowering your car 1.5", then you should end up with .5" more strut sticking out of the top of the shock tower. make sense?

I thought mine were going to be WAY to high...I used a piece of poster stick putty, about 1/2 the ball size of a ping pong ball...I put it on and closed the hood...only one quadrant of the putty was pressed, and only about 1/3 of the total area.

As far as being "mechanically" capabale, I do a lot of my own house projects- molding, electric, installing stuff, etc- I know how to use tools, Im just always afraid of screwing something up when I do the work on the car, which is understandable considering how you see guys hack up things on here.

Good Luck

LOL - The way I see it, if I haven't done it yet then I have reason for precaution :) Always good to get tips and such for new endeavors. After that, I'll do them all day long.

Nope, I cut mine out of mirrored lexan. Check local plastics places to see if you can get any, then cut it to size with a cutoff wheel. Not as shiny as chrome, but it reflects the shine of everything else perfectly. You can see it on my site to see how it looks :nice:

oh you are talking about the black plastic piece, it is molded, it goes around the winshield wiper motor etc....... i will have to look at it closer, but i would say that not much can be done for that without it being stamped......

you can't always tell from pics so i will look at my car and see if i can tell anything...
