I am about to install my NX nitrous kit on my '89 GT and I want to do away with my stock intake tube. Is the C&L TRUEFLOW 76MM MAF SYSTEM better than say a BBK/Mac cold air intake kit? I plan on using this intake in the future with a 331 stroker and a 150 shot of nitrous. Thanks for any help.

Not that im one to give advice, but im in the same situation, I have the C&L MAF and want to ditch the stock tube for a BBK CAI to go with my C&L i read that was bad but then I hear from some local fellas running the same thing I plane on running (C&L with CAI) have no issues an plenty of performance from that set up

You dont have to run the C&L Mass air meter. You can just get the True FLow Tube and run whatever meter you want and the filter. Acts as a CAI

Just to give you an idea. Elbow adaptor, then throttle body, then true flow tube, Mass air meter, then the filter.

Think about the difference in heat absorption between plastic & metal air intake plumbing. Metal tubing will be hotter than plastic. The stock airbox is very efficient cold air intake once you remove the air horn on the fender side of the air box.

what exactly are you saying? when you say remove the air horn? I also hear there is sonething inside the fender that could be removed to get greater flow through the stock airbox?

Thats what he's talking about, chances are the air horn/air silencer has already been removed by a previous owner. Once you get rid of that peice of junk the stock airbox and tube with a K&N flows just as well as a CAI, but it doesn't look as good.

A k&n panel filter and a 75 pmas meter is worth .2 at a minimum at the track. Which is very good for minimum money.

I like the ANderson ford pipe because it goes into the fender through the hole closer to the shock tower.

I just put my stock air box back in with a K&N panel filter. I replaced and engine bay filter. MY Intake air temp sensor has been relocated to my C&L intake tube and I noticed about 20 degree cooler readings on my PMS on the air tems comming in. Obviously sitting still doesn't do much but barely moving its a ton different. Not as pretty and doesn't leave me room for a MSD box under the hood but works great for free.

My C&L 76mm intake just arrived for my 19lbs. injectors. I guess I will just put a K&N cone filter over the end due to my stock air intake being gone. Should I also go ahead and replace my throttle body? If so, what size? Thanks for any help.

Don't know about bigger TB with 19lbs injectors, but just a heads up with cone filters as I have one with a C&l. It sucks in hot air and I have idle surge issues, it's fan wash into the mass air meter. Idled good hood open, like crap hood closed. C&L recommended using stock air box or a shield for the cone style filter, or extend filter past altenator. I have a stock air box, MAF meter tubing etc if you need one as my car seemed sluggish with the stock box installed (dyno tuned with cone filter)......Still haven't found a shield for mine.

Its called the silencer, in both references I belive. Its a small rubber piece that connects to the box and to the fender. Pull it off, throw it in the trash.

I have a Pro-M 77mm MAS (with the big aluminum cast inlet tube and K&N) and would like to get a shield for mine as well. On my other '92, I had a clear plastic shield (I think it was made by FAST or something like that) that went around my 9" K&N cone. I'd like something like that for my convertible but can't find anything.

Let me know if you come across something.
