C4 fluid capacity and type of ATF to use?

I was wondering what the ATF quart capacity was on a c4 with an aluminum pan? This is a case fill unit and this will be filling it for the first time, including the converter. Also, shoud i use mercon in it? Thanks in advance!

stock = 9qts (add more 2qts for empty torque convertor) + 2qt extra capacity pan = approx. 13 qts and Type F fluid

Type F? I guess it is an older style transmission but I haven't heard of anything taking type F since way way back in the day.
