c4 overhaul??

Hey, my c4 in my 70 f.b. is starting to shift a little funny. from 2nd to 3rd there is sometimes a delay in the shift by what seems like 1k rpm or so. sometimes it feels like it slips into Neutral for a few before it shifts. Its worse when it first starts up. Its attached to a 351C. So, should I go for a valve body job or tighten some bands, or is it time for a complete overhaul? I have know idea what its history was when I got it, but it is the oldest/most untouched part of the drivetrain. Any thoughts?? Thanks...

i would start by adjusting the bands, and adjusting the modulator valve if it is adjustable. i would also change the fluid and filter and clean out the pan as well, in fact a transmission flush wouldnt be a bad idea. also check the governor for proper operation.
