Well, the 5.0 is in my 67. I also installed at the same time, a rebuilt C4 from a column shifted 67 Mercury comet.
Before I married up the trans and motor, I took the actual shifting rod from the original transmission and transferred it to the rebuilt one.
As I dial in the motor, I wanted to put it under a load in the drive way, I.E. power brake it a bit.
Well, it goes into reverse just fine, but not in any forward gear!
Could I have missed something when I switched the linkage from one trans to the other? Could it be that the forward band is not properly adjusted?
It has a new TCI torque converter, new clutches, shift kit, etc.
It had sat for almost two years or so, and did make some unhappy noise the first few minutes the engine was running. I only put in a half quart of fluid in the TC to get it mounted on to the input shaft. The car didn't run at all with out at least 5 qts in the trans.
