have any of you guys replaced the bushing in the end of the tailshaft on a c4 tranny?
i have a 65 C4 and i need to install a new bushing but ive heard once you press it in, getting the slipyoke back inside is a PITA and that the bushing will need to be honed a little bigger.
what are your experiences?
thanks guys

I replaced mine a couple years ago. It was easy, once I got my H-pipe out of the way.

The tailhousing went back on - no problem. The Slip yoke went back in easy too. My slip yoke has a little wear though too. Another thing to add to the list. The new bushing fixed the low speed cruise vibration.

Just check the fit of the slip yoke with the new bushing installed before bolting the tail shaft assembly back on.

New bushing

If the bushing is installed correctly, the yoke will slip back in. The c4 bushing is long and you have to have the correct bushing driver or the bushing will swell on the ID..
