I normally posts in the 94'-95' but I didn't have any luck in there, so I decided to post in here. Okay originally I was just going to build my AODE that I have in the car now, but yesterday I was talking to one of my friends down at the local tire shop and he was selling a C4 tanny off of his 66'(I think). He said he would sell it to me for $150. It has 133, XXX miles. He says it runs it just needs a good rebuild. I didn't know all the pros and cons of switching to a C4. I know it is a three speed and that it is a tough transmission. How does it do at the track and normal driving around town? If I get a positive response I will buy it in a couple days. Plus what goodies will I need to build the tanny with? And what do I need for the conversion?

One thing you'll have to work out is the C4s kickdown for use with the TB. I'm trying to make it work on my EFI conversion, I'm planning on making my own bracket to kickdown the trans. at WOT.

You'll also need a 50oz/157tooth flexplate.

The kickdown is a linkage from the carb to the transmission. It is actuated at WOT to tell the transmission to downshift to 1st gear.

As for the flexplate, the 5.0/AOD uses a 50oz/164tooth where as the 302/C4 uses a 28.oz/157 tooth. Since you're going to use a 5.0/c4 you'll need a 50.oz/157 tooth flexplate to be compatible with the c4s bell housing and maintain engine balance.
