C4 to AOD swap

I got a 1990 AOD for my 1979 mustang and I was wondering what is involved in putting the AOD where the C4 used to be?

bc im gettin the AOD for free and the previous owner took out the C4 and it needs a tranny in there so i figure that ill slap in the AOD until i get enough money for the new engine/trans combo.

o ok i understand now, sry i cant help tho, im not very smart at this stuff yet, what if u sellf the aod and gt yourself a 5speed, ur not gonna sell it for 1k but it will help save

couldnt be much cross member tanny mounts shift cables correct fly wheel

I don't know about the '79. I was planning to do this on my '67. I'd need a shortened driveshaft because the AOD is longer than the '67 C4. On the classic forum alot of people swap in AODs to get better gas mileage. regular 87 in my area is $2.19

Im in the process of building an aod......and they can be good if built right.


but.......crossmember, tranny moutns....(maybe longtubes depends if you have them or not), shifter cable, but i dont think its much.

120K Miles on my AOD and running strong. Can't be all that bad.

since nobody can help me, does anyone have a C4 that they want to trade for my AOD. It have 10k on the rebuild and a i think B & M transgo shift kit in it.
