have you guys used anything. i was thinking wide masking tape to hold the torque convertor at bay while installing the trans. dayum thing keeps just popping out enough that it will not seat again fully on the pump which is keeping me from bolting this pig back on. i'm off by a half and inch thats it. has happend to me three times now. I was thinking since everything is lined up i could have someone push on the trans. aka tailshaft while i spin over the engine and the tc should fully seat again and so will the bellhousing. Any tips? thanks.

When the torque converter is properly seated, it will sit inside the bell and have ~1.5~ inches gap. Meaning, it will sit fully on the pump shaft, and you will have a solid inch and a half gap or so...

If you are lifting the trans straight up into the bay, and the TC is falling out, then you aren't on squarely.
Make sure that the TC bolts are lined up with the holes on the flexplate!

thank god your advice is free lol. i'm getting a trans jack tomorrow to make life a bit more easy and making some guide pins to aid in installation for alignment. I'm going to do the tape thing. since the tc just comes off the first set of splines mostly due to moving it back for adjustment after the studs make there way through the flexplate.
