C4 Transmission linkage too short

Hello - I replaced my small C4 with a 133 tooth flex plate with a later model C4 with a 164 flex plate - (doing an engine swap - 200 I6 to 302) - and my shifter linkage is about 2-3 inches short of tying in to the side of the new tranny - should i just measure my linkage and head to the junkyard? -any ideas?

I swapped the arm on my i6 tranny into my v8 tranny. You have to remove the valve body to get to it, no biggy though.

When I got my V8 tranny - no arm - I have to start from scratch - phooey

I am talking about the lever that sticks out of the i6 tranny. There is actually two, one inside the other. One is the shifter and the other is the kick down. I had to switch them as a set.
