just picked up a 69 stang.

302=306 with a C6

Trans leaks in lower drive gears pretty bad, but reverse will pretty much empty a full trans in seconds!

My guess was pump, but wanted to see what you guys think it could be?

This is the start to a long project, so I will be here often.

Since you didnt say where it was leaking from, I will go out on a limb here and throw out what comes to mind.

First check to make sure the 17 pan bolts are there. If so they may have been over-tightened and caused your pan to flex. Or not tightened at all. (should be 10-14 ftlbs torque if not mistaken)

Second check the shifter shaft, there should be a seal on it.

Third check the O-ring at the end of the shaft. During a re-build the wrong size can be put back in.

Other areas for leaks are the pump o-ring, front seal near the bellhousing, rear seal by driveshaft,

updated info

looks like its from the front pump area. pan is tight and flush... no sign of leaks from shifter input, tailshaft seal has tiny leak.

I looked under the car as it was cycled thru the gears. Dumped about 4 qts trans fluid in 30 seconds in reverse (powerbrake to load without tire spin)

The best guess I have is the pump, but just wanted to know, due to the different volume of leaking in different gears, could it be a valvebody issue or something else?

I'll be visiting this forum often and will have pics up soon.
