I was told by a friend of mine that I can get away with taking off 2 of my cat's without affecting emission laws here in Cali. Is this true?

no its not true. the only legal midpipe is the stock midpipe with all 4 OEM cats.

to expand: although the car might pass the tailpipe inspection, if the shop and smog technician are competent they will fail on visual. heres a little list of other things that are not legal in CA: adjustable fuel pressure regulators, breather filters, timing adjusters, long tube headers, any midpipe other than stock for 96+, aftermerket fuel rails, non approved throttle bodies and plenums, non approved CAIs, non approved MAFs, different supercharger pullies(smaller than stock), boost controllers, MIL Elims, aftermarket fuel controllers, stand alone computers, non approved fuel injectors, non approved shorty headers, dont know of any 4.6 turbo systems, non approved superchargers, running a return style fuel system on a 99+ stang. im sure there are more, but i cant think of any right now.

California's only like this because the car population here is among the highest in the world. The 405 and 110 freeways are the worst on weekdays, and I saw (rated on America Online) that Los Angeles ranks the worst in traffic nationwide.

California is like this because of our green leave eating Democrats up in Sacrament and Frisco.
