I know this is a stupid (or an unheard of) question...but are there any CAI's that use a paper filter or are they all the reuseable oil K&N types? Does the Ford CAI (Shelby/Bullitt) use an oil coated membrane filter as well?

The Ford CAI that is on the Bullitt has a non reusable paper element air cleaner. $71 each from Ford, they tell me.

Bullitt has not needed a new one yet.

$71 each filter? That's a little on the pricey side I think. Why do you not want a reuseable filter?

Air Filter

I have a K&N Aircharger CAI system. I changed the K&N filter element for one of the filters from Amsoil. No oiling required and they are supposed to filter much better. You clean them every 25,000 miles and replace them at 100,000. To clean you just gently blow compressed air from the inside out. Check them out.

I'm old and lazy and don't feel like cleaning grime off my throttle body...I'd rather sacrifice some horsepower for better filtering too.

Will do, thanks! Are most of the CAI filters "generic"...in other words will the Amsoil filter fit pretty-much any of them?

Thanks for all the info everyone!!
