To those who have CAIs.... do you prefer to have the filter inside the fenderwell (so you cant see it) or outside. Any pics?? I would love to see how it looks NOT inside the fendewell. Thanks guys.

i prefer the DeMolet which has the filter inside the fender, why have the intake inside the engine bay, just does not make sense to me.

I agree... I have seen a pic of both and the one inside the bay looked odd. I just bought the BBK which allows for inside or out.

My K&N FIPK Gen2 has the filter in the engine bay but it has a sheild. Also the intake tube is plastic so it doesn't get as hot.

Looks good. I wonder if it really makes that much difference... filter inside or out?

the air in the fender is cooler than the air under the hood, so the cooler more dense air provides more power

I have a bbk fender mounted one I like it looks good. As for power they are all the same get the one that you think looks the best. Minimal power gain if any.

I plan on ditching my K@N CAI and getting the C@L TrueFlow Inlet System. They tested it in MM@FF, and on a stock Mach 1 it gained 10 peak horsepower with gains as much as 12 in the mid horsepower curve. Peak Torque was raised 8.5. With acomplete exhaust, and a Diablo tuned and dialed in, the results will probably be better than that.

I heard there were problems with the C&L causing the engine to run lean or messing up the MAF sensor?

BBK in the fender well here. I like the Bling and the in the fender just makes for a better engine compartment look IMHO.

all the c&l maf does is trick the computer into leaning out the a/f mixture, which a tune will do anyway. if i was gonna get a cai it'd either be the k&n or the jlt. btw ive read the temp difference when you're moving is only 2 degrees from in the engine bay to the fender well, and the more bends a system has the more its gonna slow down the air

Your engine will run on the lean side from the Diablo tune also. When I got my Mach dynoed they upped the A/F ratio while dialing in my Diablo to get max. HP out of it. The Diablo may need to be dialed in again along with the A/F after the C@L is put on. That's fine. I plan on dynoing it again and see what the results are. I know a guy with a Mach that has had the C@L system for quite awhile now and he's had zero problems with his.

Choose one based on the look you want. The temperature difference between the fender area and the engine bay is like 2-3 degrees F once you are moving. I actually took measurements myself. That temperature difference amounts to less than 1 HP.

BINGO, thats the answer and I agree 100% since I too have seen the same results. Once the car is moving, barely if any difference.

One advance to the non-fender type is at the track. Pull the headlight and get a ram air effect. That works and its well known.
