i just got the whole exhaust system for my car and i decided tht im gonna do intake next. im definatly gonna get the performer intake but im still not sure on which CAI, Throttle body, and MAf to get. im just looking for the most horsepower gain here. also i heard from someone tht u shouldnt use a MAF with a 'in the fenderwell' CAi kit b/c the inlet pipe bends and wouldnt allow the MAF to get an accurate reading, im not sure about this i just heard it somewhere.

Remember, the stock intake box is a cold air intake - pulling its air from the fenderwell. Go to the link below for a comparison article - there's little if any gain with an aftermarket cai compared to removing the silencer from the filter box and putting a flat panel K&N in it. Do a cai if you like the look of it -- but don't expect any HP gains.

Well Michaels pretty much right, you will gain a few ponies from it, but you definetly wont feel it. But hey it all adds up. You can definetly tell its sucking in more air though. Personally i like the BBK CAI, i have one myself and i love it. Dont know nothin about MAF, "still havent converted" and TB ive heard nothing but good stuff about Accufabs, but to save a little money BBK offers a good one to. Mostly good reviews on that one to, but if moneys not an issue go with Accufab. Performance wise there all pretty much the same

Dont get a BBK throttle body, unless you like a nice whistling sound. Accufab or FMS. 65mm will be more than plenty for your stock motor.

If your looking for some SOTP power, throw some gears in, like 3.73's.

i have to vote for accufab throttle bodies and pro-m mass air meters. they are both top quality.

If MAC said that maybe youll gain a 1hp or 2, would as many people be buying it? absolutely not. Its marketing, and tehy are trying to make money

The biggest gain from a CAI is improved throttle response. I felt a minor power gain on my car when it went in, but the biggest difference was more instant throttle response. Plus, they look good under the hood too... I have the MAC unit for SD cars.

Like I said - if you like the way they look (and I do) go for it. But performance-wise there's virtually no difference if you've removed the stock box silencer and put a low restriction filter in. As with exhaust system mods, many people are quite certain they perceive better throttle response or performance. But I think it's probably wishful thinking. Likely it has more to do with the extra air intake noise created by the lack of the factory box.

For the price. I like the Moroso piece. It simply replaces the airbox with a black plastic tube that sticks a cone type filter in the fender, leaving everything else stock. I agree that it won't gain you any hp, but it does get rid of the big, ugly, black box for alot less $$ than the other brands.

If you are looking for a CAI do the following...get a Pro-M 80mm MAF but make sure it doesn't use a conical filter...Next get a big mouth inlet tube that goes from the MAF to the TB...it is tough plastic and it decreases from 80mm to 65mm allowing for a better air turbulance when it enters the intake...Finally remove the air silencer and get a K&N in your air box...Now you have good performance parts and also function as to how a CAI is suppose to...
