Let my start by telling ya'll what I have. I bought my 97 GT last sept. I know the previous owner did some tranny work, shift kit (j-mod ), cooler, not sure about to T/C, weld-in flowmasters.
I got the rear-end rebuilt first, full rebuild with 4.10's of course. Then I added a o/r h-pipe.

Now for the questions- Are all aftermarket cams stamped?
And which valve cover is the easiest to remove/install?

What got me wondering about the cams is, a friend of mine got a 98 GT auto a couple weeks ago. Its mostly stock with weld-in flowmaster and 3.73's and a K&N. And his car doesnt sound or run anything like mine.
So it got me thinking that maybe the previous owner did more than I thought. I know it doesnt have the PI swap done, still has the new version NPI intake on.

Thanks
Keith

Dont rule out the headswap, quite yet. He could have used a 99-00 intake manifold. What else could have been done? Pullies? Tuner? Headers?

As for your question, the passenger side valve cover is easier, in my opinion. I would take that one off to check the cams. As far as them being stamped or marked, I dont know. Sorry!

Im sure its a NPI intake, just has the upgrade aluminum cross over.
No pullies, as for the tune Im not sure of. I checked the ECM for a chip, which it doesnt have. But it could have been tuned, the car was a repo when I got it.

I'm pretty sure that if you pulled one of your valve covers you could tell if it was an aftermarket cam or not.

Since your cam gears are press-on, they need to be changed over to bolt-on cam gears. So if y ou saw that they were bolted onto the cam gears, then i'm pretty sure you'd be cammed
