a friend of a friend of mine just picked up an 89gt and was wondering what the biggest cam as far as specs go he could put in his motor. most likely the rest of the motor will stay stock. i told him that a cam swap on a stock motor most likely wouldnt be worth it but he is just wondering. thanks

If he was dead set on a cam for a stock motor I would think maybe a b-cam if he wanted to spray later those cams love spray I wouldnt go bigger than a E-303 cam on a bone stock motor

my friend is running an f-cam, but it feels like a turd. even if you advanced it, I think you would be shooting yourself int he foot.

Heck, I have upgraded cylinder heads and intake and still say the stock cam is better.

The E is the biggest cam I would go with stock heads and intake. The B cam is too much cam for the stock stuff. The E cam is also emissions legal.

I have a B cam and low end torque is gone for the most part. It pulls like crazy up top though. 4 degrees advance on my cam.

ehh, aside from a hit in the wallet you arent accomplishing much. stay stock until the motor comes out for a top end swap

Stock cam is the best for the stock heads. Put the money towards an intake.

try 1.7 roller rockers and new valve springs. you'll pick up some hp and it's no big deal to install. just make sure the piston is at the top at when each cylinder is being done or you might be pulling a head to get your valves.
