Cost me $1200 cause I open my engine to do the work but coudn't do the valve springs change so I had to tow my car to the shop. If you just take your car at fist then is somewhere around $ 1000.00

I still dont see why you would never do cams again? Would you not do it because of the money or because you didnt gain much power out for the money you spent? I dont see why you wouldnt do cams

yeah I did pay $1200 for it, or do you want to see invoice ? Let's start

cams about $579
Valve spring $ 180
Install$ 1200
---------------
$ 1959.00 + Tune

With my cam and dd is hard. Cam cars are different then your stock cams car as few driveability issues. My cam is like stage 2 so it's very high lope and ptv issue if not degree. Plus engine shakes and make hole car vibrate.

As you might know that you can get tuner vortech for about $2500 and pony down turbo kit for 2599

Best of luck to you

Yes in your case cams were a mistake. No reason for a cam install to cost $1200. As for driveability issues take that up with your tuner your car should drive like stock with a proper tune and the whole car vibrating sounds like other issues like bad engine mounts.

Your comparison at the end is so off it's not funny. You are comparing you doing cams, not being able to finish the job and having to pay out the rear to fix it to a bare bones power adder kit?!?! What happens when you need that installed? Or when you need it tuned? Or when you have to pay for upgrades those kits don't come with? Or when you have to rebuild the engine?

My cams cost 375 (used) and the install was a couple of beers for a friend.

This is not a hard swap and most shops, especially ones that work on Mustangs, should be able to do it quite easily. But the cost of the cams is what gets you. Since they are running nearly 600 new you are talking about a grand or better for an install. That much money for 20-25 HP is pretty steep.

If you want more power, and plan to keep upgrading and making more power... forced induction is the way to go. I have done it both ways, in the long run its cheaper just to find a good used blower.

If you want to stay NA you can look at a set of comp 262's or CMS stage 1 cams. Then you dont have to mess with valve springs.

you always need to upgrade the springs when going with any aftermarket PI cams. You're gambling if you don't.
