i noticed the front cam journal on my drivers side head had a little grove in it, you can barly feel it when you rub you finger over it, this is the best picture i could get of it, but can i use it how it is, or will i have to do somthing about itView attachment 312799

Not a good thing, an exact mate with the cam and cam tower cap are pretty important

i've heard just using the wrong tower cap (like if the orig broke) could cause a problem, and that's with a perfect condition one. I'd ask an engine builder if i were you - i know i have a guy saved in my phone for this type of non-internet obtainable info based on experiance.

if it is really small then you will most likely be alright. i have put together countless 4.6l and some have had tiny grooves in the journals and are still running with no problems 2day. just make sure you use a hight quality assembly lube...alot of it...and tighten the cam journals in exact order to specified torque. you should be fine.
