I am ready to install a new cam in my stroker this morning. I open the Comp Cam box and find it does not have any cam lube. This is a hydraulic roller XE274HR cam, do roller cams require the lube like flat tappet cams?

And no 20 minute @ 2000RPM to break the lifters in... one of the benefits of roller cams. I'd still like to err on the side of caution and make sure the cam, lifters, pushrods and rockers are well oiled before startup (see D.Hearne's advice). Soak the lifters overnight in clean motor oil.D.Hearne said:No lube necessary on a roller, but DO prelube the oiling system before firing it.
